If you've always fancied learning to sew, join Sarah for this series of mini workshops at Long Eaton Art-Room.

Each workshop is a stand-alone class but you can take part in all 3 to get a good all-round introduction to sewing and dressmaking in in a warm friendly, encouraging environment where you'll learn lots of useful tips and techniques to get you going.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

HOW TO USE A SEWING MACHINE

Tuesday 22nd May

10.00am-12.00pm

Learn how to thread and use a sewing machine to make a simple cushion cover, with lots of tips and advice to get you started. You’ll learn on Sarah’s trusty Singer Sewing machines and all equipment and materials are included. If you would like to use your own fabric you’ll need 1 metre or 1 yard of cotton fabric.

MAKE A COIN PURSE

Tuesday 12th June

10.00am-12.00pm

Learn how to insert zips and make a little coin purse. You’ll learn on Sarah’s trusty Singer Sewing machines and all materials and equipment are included. If you would like to use your own fabric you’ll need 1 fat quarter of cotton fabric.

UNDERSTANDING SEWING PATTERNS

Tuesday 19th June

10.00-12.00pm

Learn how to take accurate body measurements and decipher sewing patterns to give you the confidence to start your first dressmaking projects.

We won’t be doing any sewing in this class; instead we’ll be going through all the information on a dressmaking pattern   so you’ll understand what all those funny instructions mean.
All patterns and equipment will be provided for you.
