Vintage Capsule Wardrobe

In the first of Sarah’s Vintage Capsule Wardrobe Dressmaking Classes, you’ll learn how to make this timeless skirt, originating from the late 1940’s to suit your own personal style.
The Dirndl skirt has a fitted waistband and a full gathered skirt a side zip and optional in seam pockets. This versatile skirt can be made in a wide range of fabrics to create different looks suitable for the season or occasion of your choice.

With over 30 years of sewing experience Sarah will share tips and techniques in a warm friendly, encouraging environment, supporting you every step of the way to give you the confidence and ability to complete this beautiful skirt.

They’ll be tea and cake throughout the day to keep you going and a buffet lunch is included too!

On this workshop you’ll learn how to:

•Use and layout a simple dress pattern.
•Measure yourself correctly and choose the right size garment to make.
•Finish raw edges.
•Insert a zip.
•Make a waistband.
•Gather a skirt.
•Create pockets (optional).
•Hem a skirt.

Skill Level:

Beginner to Budding Seamstress

You’ll need to know how to use a sewing machine to take part.

Sewing machines are provided but you can bring your own if you prefer.

Fabric Requirements:

You’ll need to bring your fabric and matching thread to the class. The best fabrics to use are  medium  weight cottons. More information on fabric will be provided on booking but for the moment:

If your fabric is 115cm (45 inch) wide you’ll need 2m (2 & 1/8 yards)

If your fabric is 150cm (60 inch) wide you’ll need  1.6m (1 & ¾ yards)
