Sewing and dressmaking workshops and one to one tuition with professional designer Sarah Culleton.
To make it easier for you to decide which workshops may be suitable for you, Sarah has devised a few skill levels to help:
•Absolute Beginner: You’ve never used a sewing machine, looked at a pattern or so much as contemplated sewing a cushion before.
•Confident Beginner: You’ve used a sewing machine, can thread it and sew in a straight line, maybe you’ve completed a few simple projects such as a pump bag or cushion.
•Budding Seamstress: You’ve had a go at making a few garments or other sewing projects and can confidently use a sewing machine.
•Super Seamstress: You have lots of dressmaking and sewing experience. You can follow a pattern, handle and understand different fabrics.
Please do contact Sarah for help if you’re still not sure, she’ll be happy to help.
That’s a little like asking ‘How many Ferrero Rocher can you eat in one session?’. For one to one sessions it will very much depend, on your ability, the speed at which you learn and work, the style of dress, skirt, bag or whatever it is you wish to make, Sarah will give you an estimate of how many sessions you might require to complete your chosen project, but it will only be an estimate and further sessions may be required to finish. But with Sarah’s support, guidance and encouragement you will work better and quicker than you ever thought possible.
For group workshops the classes are specifically designed to complete the chosen project within the allotted time. Although for multi session workshops there will probably be homework between sessions as everyone works and learns at different speeds.
You can book and pay for a class on the Book Workshops and Tuition page, where you’ll be able to choose from a selection of workshops. Payment can be made by credit/debit card and Paypal. Shortly after booking you’ll receive full course details and information.
•You can choose from a selection of classes or have your tuition tailored to meet your needs. Just contact Sarah here. She will send you a questionnaire to assess your skill level and find out what you’d like to learn.
•Tuition is £25.00 an hour and you will receive an extra hour for free with every 4 hours you book
•Tuition must be paid for in full in advance of your first session, which will secure your booking.
•Tuition fees do not include material or pattern costs unless specified in the product listing, but all equipment and sewing machines will be provided.
• Tuition can take place in your own home or Sarah’s home studio.
Ok so George Clooney’s called you and asked you out on a hot date and you can’t make your workshop or one to one session.
If you let Sarah know, a minimum of 7 days before your session, you can get a refund in full or reschedule if you’d prefer. If you let her know 48 hours in advance of your session, you’ll be able to reschedule, after that unfortunately due to limited availability Sarah will not be able to refund or reschedule your session.
It happens to the best of us but if you are going to be late, please contact Sarah as soon as is convenient to let her know.
Class sizes are kept small to make sure everyone gets as much personal attention as they need. For all dressmaking workshops this means a maximum of 6 people per class. For other sewing classes they’ll be a maximum of between 6-8 people depending on the project.
Terms and Conditions
On occasion, depending on the venue of the workshop, if a minimum number of participants is not met, the workshop may have to be cancelled. If this is the case you will be informed a minimum of 48 hours before the workshop start date and given the options of a full refund, transfer to another course or a rescheduled date.
